I began my journey with Taiji and Therapies many years ago. I was fascinated by practises that at that time was not mainstream in society, but they were becoming more popular. There is so much that you don’t learn at school or in the family. How to understand feelings, interpret signals and be at ease with yourself. The gap between the mind and the body can be big. A lot of people live most of the lives in their heads and they can find it difficult to connect with the body. I began studying Taiji and I was very interested in ways working with myself that was transformative. It brought me many explorations, and it has taken me to interesting places. . I began working with Therapies when I did a postgraduate diploma in Art therapy. I have studied and practised Kairos therapy since 1995, when I qualified as a Kairos therapist. I am also a teacher and mentor in Kairos therapy training. I hold Therapist qualifications in Accupressure and Reflexology. For many years I was a teacher with Rising Dragon Taiji School. I am now with Dragon Spring Taiji School The main stay in my life has always been Taiji. I practise several Taiji and Qigong forms. Please find more information on the pages of Taiji and Qigong. I also find practising ‘Taiji in everyday life’, a practise of being present to what is happening. This line of enquiry runs throughout my work with Taiji and Therapies. The art of being interested and engaged in what is happening and emerging all the time. I have a speciality of working with people with Parkinson’s. I worked for Parkinson’s UK for almost 9 years. I now teach weekly Taiji and Qigong classes for people with Parkinson’s. I also specialise in therapies for people with Parkinson’s. I am a part of Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network and through them I continue doing CPD. Movement and energy are important qualities. Often illness occur when the movement of energy is stuck in the body. I prefer a preventative medicine; please don’t postpone doing Taiji and Therapies until an illness occurs. The daily and regular attention of exercise and nourishment is so important. Making friends with who we are is important. How to understand feelings, signals from the body and how to move. I have been teaching people Taiji for almost 30 years, doing weekly classes in venues in Scotland and I now also work online. I have been working as a therapist for the same length. Offering people, a regular input of a holistic way of being, that connects the body and mind. It is work that helps the energy to move and helping people connecting with a more joyful way of being.
